Subject: Moderator address switch for sci.space.tech and .science
Newsgroups: sci.space.tech,sci.space.science,news.groups,news.admin.misc

Several days ago, isu.isunet.edu (the moderator site for the newsgroups
sci.space.tech and .science among other groups) suffered a disk crash
due to power outage and lost it's /usr partition entirely. Due to problems
related to its primary staff and backup hardware being in Barcelona right
now, it's likely to stay down.

As it's down, no postings to sci.space.tech or .science will get through
at this time.

To rectify this situation, I'm asking all sites to redirect their moderators
entries for those two groups to: gwh@crl.com I've advised Tale and he
will presumably change the pointer at uunet as soon as he has time.

Newsgroups: sci.space.tech,sci.space.science,sci.space.policy,sci.space.shuttle

**** Apologies To Newsgroup Readers Who've No Idea What We're ****
        **** Talking About; Don't Worry, You're Still Fine! ****

Fellow space digest readers,

After a long (three week) absence due to a major disk crash and people
and resources being distributed (mainly the all-important CD-ROM)
internationally, the space digests are back on line.

Because the amount of messages collected during the past three weeks is very
large, we are not mailing them out for fear of flooding people's mailboxes. For
those that are interested in receiving these messages, you can retrieve them
from the anonymous ftp site at isu.isunet.edu in directory pub/space/....
At this time, this is the only way to retrieve them. They will eventually
become available on the listserv at uga (LISTSERV@uga.cs.uga.edu), but
please give us some time to install them.

Here is the list of issues that have been archived but NOT mailed:

space-tech: issues 39-48 space
space-sci: issues 24-28 spacesci
space-policy: issues 53-102 spacepol
space-shuttle: issues 56-79 space-sh
space-news: issues 41-54 spacenws

As a reminder, to subscribe or unsubscribe to any of these lists, you must
send a request to LISTSERV@uga.cs.uga.edu with the message body (not subject)
"subscribe" or "signoff" followed by the name of the digest (the column on the
right in the above list). The subscription request MUST be followed by the
first and last name, while the signoff request is not. Examples:

                subscribe space-sh John Public
                signoff spacenws

Hope you enjoy being back on line, and sorry for the delay.

                                The Space Digest management team.

                                space-request@isu.isunet.edu
(personal messages ONLY; please use LISTSERV
                                 for subscription requests)

Subject: Moderator bogged down
Newsgroups: sci.space.tech,sci.space.science

A warning to readers of sci.space.tech and .science; my company just
moved its administrative offices half a block, and the ensuing chaos
has eaten up much of my time since last week. It's possible that there
will be periods this week that I can't approve postings for over 24
hours, so please be patient.

On a happier note, the space digest readers should have had service
restored recently after the heroic efforts of Alwin Bliek and
Mark Maimone to restore isu.isunet.edu to health.
